KATHARSIS - Fourth Reich (CD) [More Details]
"Black Metal gods Katharsis return in full rotten splendour with a 45 minutes long recording. While the song-writing retains the main ill characteristics of previous full-length VVORLDVVITHOUTEND, the extensive song structures operate as hypnotizing and lethal labyrinths, the murderous and brutal riffing is enhanced by a frontal opposition with a rare and genuine mastery of sheer black magic atmospheres."
VAR - No Place to Hide (Czech Demo Series I/VI) (12" LP on Green Vinyl w/ Book) [More Details]
The thrash-metal band V.A.R. (Vratislavice Alcoholic Roar) had formed in Liberec, Czechoslovakia in 1989. They recorded their album "No Place to Hide" shortly after the collapse of the communist regime to the great satisfaction of then starved audience fed up with decades of authoritarian censorship. The lower quality of the recording was due to the limited availability of decent recording equipment, typical for underground studios in the Eastern Block at that time. Listening to the album revives a certain nostalgia, a reflection of riches perhaps then taken for granted - such as the band's effective raw and sting expression. The unique sound of V.A.R can be instantly recognized amongst thousands of metal bands. Despite V.A.R.'s gradual drift from their musical origins, their demo "No Place to Hide" played a fundamental role in the rise of Czech thrash metal scene. V.A.R. is thought to be a response to Frankfurt's band TANKARD including their "alko image".
AMON - Call the Master (Czech Demo Series II/VI) (12" LP w/ Book) [More Details]
Together with the former members of the band ABATTOR, Robin Krcmar a.k.a. Dr. Fe, stood at the birth of AMON, after he's been prematurely ejaculated by the fast rising phenomenon ROOT. With them, Dr. Fe recorded their first three legendary demos Reap of Hell, War of Rats and Messengers from Darkness. Former ASGARD guitarist Lada Larva Krupica joined the band and quickly became one of the band's leading personalities. AMON's first demo "Rise zla / Empire of Evil" (1990) was quite a giggle, but the quality of every following musical production was rising with each recording. No wonder their third demo "Call the Master (1992) came out one year later as their first official CD recording. AMON is well respected old school black metal legend. Allow yourselves to submerge to the roots of the deepest darkest underground in this classic vinyl record.
